Well hi, Jack Roper here in Cleveland Park in Spartanburg. We’re about to give our Caring for the Carolinas award for the month of April.
PAT MURRAY – FRIEND
I met Marty through my husband and known him for years and years, and as long as I’ve known him he’s always done good works. When our daughter was 16, she had a pituitary tumor, and she had to have surgery at Emory. He did a benefit and raised thousands of dollars.
DAVID ALLEN - BANDMATE
We’ve had a lot of friends that’s been sick and stuff, and he’s always come through and did benefits to help them. Generally, he’s just a very honest, good guy that would do anything for you.
JAYNE MCQUEEN – PRESIDENT & CEO, MOBILE MEALS
36 years ago, the Lord really smiled on Mobile Meals, because he brought Marty Dixon into our lives. And for the entire 36 years, he and his friends and family and the shop have raised money for Mobile Meals.
Bottom line, why do you do what you do?
MARTY DIXON – AWARD RECIPIENT
Somebody’s got to do it, Jack. I’ve seen people in the past that put little programs together like this, and it always interested me. It wouldn’t be possible without all the friends I have, I’m loaded with friends and God has blessed me with that.
Let us thank our friends, our sponsors that make all this possible, that it Ingles, along with Bath Fitter and Unclaimed Furniture. Marty I’m going to give you that award, now you hold that just a minute and I’m going to give you a couple of other things. How about a gift card from Unclaimed Furniture? 50 dollars, and a hundred dollars from Ingles. And now I hear applause. Yes.
