The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team converged on the campus of USC Upstate for an all day training exercise with the university’s police department. The training included hostage-taking, barricaded suspects, and active shooters.
"They are trying to prepare for something we all pray just won't happen… but it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it, “ says Lt. Mark Gaddy.
Chief Klay Peterson joined his officers in the training. "We have a responsibility to our community - especially our students, whose parents send them here and expect them to be safe.” says Peterson.
