The Cherokee County Coroner is investigating the death of a Gaffney man pulled from the Broad River Saturday evening.

The body of Anthony Bernard Fair, Jr.  was found near the Broad River Electric Hydro Dam by personnel fromt the Cherokee County Fire Department around 9 p. m. according to coroner Dennis Fowler.

Fowler says Fair was camping with friends along the side of the river and according to his mother planned on spending the night.

Fair's friends tried to seek help when Fair went under water and never surfaced.  Fair's mother said her son could not swim and it is unclear how he got into the river.

The coroner has ordered an autopsy on Fair to assist in the investigation.
