Cold Mountain fire update: Now 95% contained

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) - The Cold Mountain fire is now 95% contained, according to fire officials.

They say about 132 acres have burned.

The rain helped firefighters in their suppression efforts today.

No active fire has been seen along the perimeter since Saturday.

Today, fire crews focused on finding and putting out any final hot spots.

An emergency closure order is still in effect for the Art Loeb Trail (#146), north of Shining Rock Gap, and the Cold Mountain Trail (#141).

The fire was reported on Friday, February 17th.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The incident management team that has been assigned to the fire will be released at the end of the shift today.

The fire will continue to be monitored by personnel of the Pisgah Ranger District along with one fire crew.

The fire is now managed solely by the US Forest Service.
