Company supports Upstate non-profit during Sexual Assault Awareness Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - A Spartanburg-based company is partnering with a nonprofit that helps abuse victims.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness month and Sitel, a company that manages customer experience, is raising awareness for Safe Homes Rape Crisis Coalition.

Sitel managers toured the Spartanburg facilities and were surprised at the statistics they learned. Leaders of the company said they were shocked to learn how often domestic abuse and sexual assault occurred in South Carolina.

The company is donating to the cause. This includes giving more than $1,000 in toiletries to the shelter for victims of abuse, and having employees train to help staff a call center for victims in crisis.

Revolution Martial Arts and Performance Fitness has also partnered with Sitel to offer self-defense classes for victims, as well as others interested.

Safe Homes is urging you to get involved and you can do so on their website.
