Multiple flash flood warnings issued for Western NC

MCDOWELL COUNTY, NC (WSPA) -  A flash flood warning is in effect for several Western North Carolina counties.

According to the National Weather Service, a flash flood warning is in effect for McDowell County until 11:45 p.m.

The NWS initially reported that evacuations were underway for an area of Business Highway 221 on the south side of Marion, NC, but those evacuations have since been called off.

A flash flood warning was also issued for southeastern Buncombe County in until 12:15 a.m.

NWS is reporting that flooding could develop along Garren Creek, which is east of Fairview and could possibly impact Lee Dotson Road. Areas along Flat Creek, Sand Branch and Glade Creek could also be impacted by flooding.

A flash flood warning was issued for Transylvania and Henderson counties until 1:30 a.m.

NWS is reporting that flooding is likely to develop along streams and creeks in the area from Brevard to Hendersonville.

  • Mills River
  • Fletcher
  • Flat Rock
  • Etowah
  • Mountain Home
  • Laurel Park
  • Rosman
  • Looking Glass
