Man accused of assaulting Spartanburg police officers

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) -- A Spartanburg man is accused of threatening to kill another man over prescription drugs before assaulting officers.

Police responded to a disturbance with a gun Sunday on East Hampton Avenue.

Police were told the suspect, identified in a report as 24-year-old Nigel Jamar Littlejohn, pointed a gun at the victim and threatened to kill him.

The victim said Littlejohn ordered the victim at gunpoint into his vehicle where he later threatened to kill the victim over the victim’s prescription drugs.

Littlejohn was still at the victim’s home when officers arrived.

There was a struggle as officers tried to keep Littlejohn from getting into his car.

The report states police grabbed Littlejohn, but he still managed to get in the vehicle and reached into the driver’s side compartment area of the car. In fear for their lives, one officer drew a weapon while another officer tased Littlejohn.

One officer was trapped inside the door post and struck several times before Littlejohn fled in the car.
The wrecked car was found nearby and K-9 officers were used to track Littlejohn.

As of Monday, Littlejohn remains in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

He’s charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, strong arm robbery, resisting arrest with assault and other crimes, according to online jail records.
