OCONEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) - Oconee County Sheriff's Office officials arrested a man on charges related to distributing methamphetamine and a sex offender registry violation.
According to a sheriff's office news release, deputy saw Randal Joseph Emery, 32, Saturday evening driving a black moped on Highway 123 in Seneca, and after checking with dispatch, confirmed he had outstanding arrest warrants.
Emery's vehicle was stopped on East North First Street in Seneca.
He was arrested and the deputy saw a quantity of narcotics in plain view on the moped.
Emery was taken to the Oconee County Detention Center and he was booked in around 3:30 a.m.
He also had other outstanding warrants against Emery, which included the sex offender registry warrant, where he reportedly failed to register at the sheriff's office in March of this year -- which is a requirement of his sentence.
According to the release, Emery has listed addresses in Walhalla and West Union.
Emery was charged with one count each of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine-3rd or subsequent offense and a sex offender registry violation- 2nd offense.
According to the release, Emery also had warrants out of South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardons.
Emery remains at the detention center, where he was denied bond on the drug charge and was given a combined $50,000 surety bond on the other charges.
