Man sentenced in Una fire chief's daughter's death

COWPENS, SC (WSPA) - A Cowpens man has received a 40-year sentence for the shooting death of a Spartanburg County Fire Chief's daughter from 2016.

Jefferson Lee Perry III shot Tiffany Dale Cartee in December of 2016 inside a moving car with two other people.

Cartee, the daughter of Una Fire Chief Jeff Hadden, was driving the car when Perry shot her in the head.

The car Cartee was driving hit a tree off of Bennett Dairy Road.

Perry fled from the scene and was found hiding in a crawl space of a nearby home, soaked in blood.

Perry is not eligible for parole or early release, he will serve every day of his 40-year sentence. He also has several drug and property crime convictions.

“I hope today’s sentence helps the family of Tiffany Cartee in their recovery from this horrific crime,” Solicitor Barry Barnette said.
