4 dead, 1 hurt in Laurens Co. crash, including 3 teens from Union Co.

WSPA Staff - LAURENS Co., S.C. (WSPA) - Four people, including three teenagers, were killed early Sunday in a three-car head-on crash in Laurens County.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the crash happened at Highway 221 and New Prospect Church Road just after 11:30 a.m.

Three people in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, and the driver of a Nissan Altima were killed in the crash.

The Laurens County coroner says 18-year-old Hunter Carter of Union, 16-year-old Kirslyn Richardson of Union, and 15-year-old Charner Inabinet of Union were in the truck and died at the scene.

Troopers say none of the teens were wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the Nissan, 54-year-old Bruce Blair of Laurens, also died at the scene, according to the coroner.

Troopers say the pickup truck crossed the center line and struck the Altima head-on and then hit a Dodge Charger.

The driver of the Charger was taken by ambulance to Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.

Union County Schools confirmed at least one victim was a Union County High School student.

The district released the following statement:

Union County Schools officials were notified of the loss of at least one of our Union County family members earlier today in a tragic car wreck. It is never easy losing a member of your school family and the effects will be felt across our entire community. Union County High School will have counselors and community mentors available tomorrow for anyone needing support. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to the families and friends affected by this unfortunate event."
