UNION, S.C. (WSPA) - A Union man is behind bars after deputies say he claimed hostages were being held at a Walmart store.
Jail records show 31-year-old James Kevin Gault is charged with aggravated breach of peace and unlawful use of 911.
Deputies got a report of a man with a gun holding hostages in the bathroom of the Walmart store in Union on Thursday afternoon.
Deputies found no armed man or hostages at the store.
According to a report, investigators say Gault borrowed another man’s cell phone before calling 911 to make the false report.
Gault remains in the Union County jail as of Monday morning.
