Student arrested for bomb threat at West Henderson High

HENDERSON CO., N.C. (WSPA) - A 16-year-old student has been arrested after deputies say he sent a bomb threat to the West Henderson High School's official Twitter account.

After the threat was received, the school was evacuated and officers began sweeping the school. A backpack belonging to the suspect was found and inconclusive x-rays were taken.

Bomb technicians used high pressure water to disrupt the backpack and no bomb or explosive devices were detected.

After that, officials gave the all clear and students returned to their classrooms.

Carson Riley Lance, 16, was charged with one count of felony false bomb report on a public building.

Lance was released on $2,000 bond and will appear in court Thursday morning.
