In a statement released by her attorney, Dr. Pamelia Shaw, President of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind, says she has no knowledge of any State Law Enforcement Division investigation.
SLED confirms an investigation is underway regarding the Spartanburg school.  A SLED spokeswoman says the investigation is in the early stages.
Confirmation of the investigation comes just days after the schools Board of Commissioners replaced Shaw as president.  Shaw plans to leave her post at the end of August.
Tuesday Shaw released the following statement through her attorney:

“In a statement prepared by her attorney, Dr. Pamela Shaw President of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind today denied knowledge of any SLED investigation nor any charges made against her which should involve her in any way in the same.  Her attorney, J. Lewis Cromer in Columbia commented as follows, Dr. Pamela Shaw and I have read and viewed several media accounts of a so called ‘SLED investigation’ involving the School for the Deaf and the Blind. Neith my client nor I have ever been advised of such an investigation by law enforcement authorities.  Dr. Shaw is unaware of any circumstances during her tenure as president of the school which would suggest any improper, let alone criminal activity or involvement on her part and she has never been advised of the same.  As for her decision to leave the school at the end of August, she will stand by the earlier statement released by the school and will not comment further.“
