Softball Tournament and Auction Held to Benefit Michaela and Tye Blanton

On Saturday, Aug. 9, members of the community in Asheville are holding a charity softball tournament and auction to benefit the family of David Shawn Blanton Jr., who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year.

The event will be held at Livingston Street Park, off S. French Broad Street.

The softball tournament starts at 9 a.m. with a $200 per team entry fee.

The auction begins at 1 p.m. an features items donated form local businesses, including Smith & Wesson, Colt and Winchester knives, assorted new tools, sporting goods and restaurant gift certificates.

Also the event will have:
●  Dunking booth with local policemen and firefighters!!! 

●  Get an autograph and your photo with City and State Pageant
  Queens from all over North Carolina!!!

Volunteers are needed. Organizers are also accepting additional items for auction.
