State Treasurer Converse Chellis announced Wednesday that he will personally return some unclaimed money on Thursday.

The reason for his personal visit: Hattie Miller, the recipient, is the oldest recipient in the country.

She is 100-years-old and the state of South Carolina owes her $54.74.

“I am looking forward to meeting Ms. Miller and personally giving her a check. It’s her money and she’s entitled to it, no matter how much it is or how old she is,“ said Treasurer Chellis.

The Treasurer will visit Ms. Miller at 2 pm this Thursday to give her a check at the Happy Home Adult Day Care Center in Spartanburg.
