Trooper Shawn Blanton was shot and killed during a traffic stop June 17th, along Interstae 40, in Canton, North Carolina.  Now that trooper’s widow talks about how she is getting through this tough time.

By her infant son’s side, inside the neonatal intensive care until, Michaela Blanton got the call that changed her life forever, “I dropped to my knees screaming at the top of my lungs and of course crying.“

Michaela says another trooper called her and told her that her husband Shawn had been shot, “He said shawn is downstairs in the emergency room he has been shot in the shoulder but he will be okay.“

Just a floor below his son, Trooper Shawn Blanton died.

“It just really pains me I’m here without shawn in everything we are trying to do with tye.“

Tye, the baby doctors told them they couldn’t have, the baby Shawn wanted so much, was born early and with severe heart conditions.

“I understand if, I will understand shawn needs him more than I do.“

She says little Tye has a parent here and above, and both will continue to care for him.
