The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office says three people are charged with assault and battery for a beating they say took place after a Friday night football game. Two of those arrested are football players from Byrnes High School.
The Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the Waffle House at 12:10 a.m. Saturday morning, where they found close to 200 students in the parking lot. When the crowd dispersed a victim told deputies three people attacked him. He says they punched him all over his body, then picked him up and smashed his head through a car window. Witnesses tell deputies a dispute between the teens had been escalating for several days before this happened.
17-year-old Colby Conner, 17-year-old Antonne Raejuan Nesbitt, and 20-year-old Justin Foster are all charged with assault and battery. A judge who signed the warrants did not believe the evidence supported the state statute of lynching.
The Superintendent, Dr. Scott Turner issued the following statement:
I do not know all the details that caused this confrontation. It is sad and unfortunate that teens become involved in off campus incidents
that reflect poorly on the team and the school. When a program reaches the status and notoriety of the Byrnes Football program individuals associated with the program are held to a higher standard of conduct on and off the field.
They remain on the team. Being consistent with prior practice and with expectations for proper representation of the athletic program, they will probably face suspension from the team. The length of the suspension will be determined by the principal and head coach.

( nixonchic09 )SO ONCE THEY “THINK” THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG THEY HAVE TO MAKE SURE THEY THROW IT IN THEY FACE…
You say you were there and saw what happened and that the “victim” lied. OK, maybe so, I never said he didn’t. If you saw what happened… Did the football players TOUCH the other person at any time, in any way, shape or form? If your answer is No… then why is their lawyer stating it was “self defense”? Did the “victim” pull a gun? Could they boys NOT physically walk away? What was preventing them from walking away? Don’t parents enforce curfews with their children anymore? This happened after midnight. I have a 19 year old who still has a curfew and is NOT allowed to be out where trouble can find her. Everyone knows that most of the kids who get into trouble do so because they are at the wrong place at the wrong time. At midnight, it’s time to be home, safe and sound. Unfortunately, these kids were not. If the guy was making a problem out of himself at the football game, then why didn’t the players leave the waffle house when they first seen that the guy was there? They already knew that he was trouble. It seems to me that that’s what they were looking for by staying there. Apparently, they found trouble. No confrontation - No problems! The boys are role models and when they end up in the news for something like this - it’s very irresponsible of their part. As I’ve said before….

No matter who started the confrontation, it occurred. Two of these boys are Football players (role models for your children). Do YOU want this kind of ROLE MODEL? They could have and should have walked away! They would have been better men for doing that!

I can tell you and everyone else on this blog that I am not ashamed of what I have said. And those police officers didn’t make the arrest by mistake. There was a reason ALL 3 of those guys were arrested!!!!! And AGAIN those football players and for that matter the other guy, should be ashamed of themselves!!!! They ARE SUPPOSED to be someone for smaller kids to look up to but I tell ya if I was to hear my child say they looked up to either one of them, I would have a talk with my child and explain to them that grown people who act like that dont deserve to be looked up to and dont deserve to play football. I hope they kick them off the team for the rest of the year. What an example they are setting, especially if the District lets those kids play. AGAIN SAD SAD SAD that they acted like that. AND AGAIN THEY ACT THAT WAY BY EXAMPLE, BY WHAT THEY HAVE SEEN IN THEIR HOME LIFE…..THATS WHERE THEY LEARN HOW TO CARRY THEMSELVES….ISN’T IT???!!!!!!!!!!

I have seen this boy.. I saw him on the channel 7 news cast last night. If this boy was truely beat up the way people say, then shouldn’t he have some markings. thats all im trying to say.
I never said that they should be penalized, because they should. But all the stories need to be straightned before people do get penalized, because there are way too many different stories going around.
