Summer break came to an end for students in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson and Pickens Counties as they converged on school campuses across the Upstate this morning. News Channel 7 was there as the sun came up at Spartanburg High School in District 7 Tuesday morning where officers were on hand to direct traffic and ensure a safe arrival for students.
Meanwhile, Greenville County made good on a promise to crack down on speeders in school zones. Deputes issued 27 citations (24 speeding, 1 seatbelt violation, 1 suspended license, 1 failure to possess a valid license.) Sgt. Jimmy Bolt says, “Most people are saying that they don’t see the sign… just lack of attention, not paying attention to the flashing yellow lights.“ He says you can expect the enforcement to continue at a number of school zones in the days ahead.
