Employees of an Upstate business say they’re working for free but not willingly. They say Suburban Services, a company that works as a contractor for Dish Network services, hasn’t paid them for weeks and the checks they have received have bounced. And this isn’t the first time we’ve reported problems with this company getting paychecks to employees
On Thursday we spoke with Teddy Justice. He says he only worked for Suburban Services for a little over a month before he was fired but can’t get paid. And he’s not alone, several other current employees who asked us to hide their identities for fear of losing their jobs, also say they’re not getting paid what they’re owed. It’s left them wondering how they’ll make ends meet.
“It means disaster, (we could) lose my home, end up having to file bankruptcy,“ said Justice.
Late Thursday the owner of the company, Roger Ayers, contacted me by e-mail and said all current and former employees will be paid what they are owed on Friday. Also, Mr. Justice will get reimbursed for his overdraft fees.
You can be sure 7 On Your Side we will be following up with those employees to make sure the checks are in the bank.
