COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - About two dozen freshmen in the House of Representatives will get two days of briefings on how the lower
chamber operates. The two-day orientation begins Tuesday.
Along the way they’ll be briefed on how the state’s budget is written, how to write bills and amendments, what they’ll be paid
for, the ethics rules they’ll follow and how to use microphones in the House chamber.
The gathering will be the first for the 16 Republicans and seven Democrats elected Nov. 4.
House members will be sworn in when the chamber begins a two-day organizational session Dec. 2.
