With a major automotive operation in our backyard, accounting for tens of thousands of jobs in the region, it’s time to pay attention to what is going on with efforts to save the auto makers world-wide.

A bill to pump money into the industry, could face a vote by Wednesday in Congress.

Now some automakers are making their case on the social networks. General Motors created a new website and posted this video on their website and on Youtube.

General Motors is also making the case on Twitter.com using that text alert messaging system to send out info on their latest blogs.  GM’s also on Flickr and posts to Viddler.

Bloomberg reports BMW is the first European automaker to consider getting in on a bailout package in Germany.

But with operations in the USA and thousands of jobs riding on the success of the German automaker—has BMW now become part of the auto industry that needs to be supported in the USA?

Should US tax dollars in the form of bailout money, be sent to USA automakers?  And should a company like BMW - building cars here- be allowed to get in on the government assistance?

Looking for your comments and your vote in my blogpoll.

Thanks for stopping by!

“Something to remember in these hard times”
by Mitch Albom

Each day I have less In my bank account.
Every day I grow scared As my losses mount.
Every day there is less To the house that I own
And the equity in it Like the wind, has blown.
Every day I see less On my bottom line.
Every day something worsens That used to be fine.
Every day in my family There’s worry and stress.
Where we once dreamed of more We now do with less.
Every day I hear stories Of a company’s worth Sinking to levels
From before my birth.
And places I shopped Are now closing their doors.
Big firms I grew up with Are big firms no more.
Every day I have less Of a once strong sensation
That the leaders we choose Are good for our nation.
Every day I think less Of a boss I respected Who parachutes out With his own butt protected.
Every day I see less of the country I knew
Of the dreams we encouraged Under red, white and blue.
Instead I see signs Of foreclosure and sale And people afraid Of what comes in the mail.
I see layoffs and cutbacks No help for the needy As billions are given
To the powered and greedy.
And this news, it is endless It burrows so deep.
It shadows my waking It’s haunting my sleep.
Yet every day I have less I cannot ignore it.
Something grows clearer That wasn’t before it.
If I still have a job I am luckier than some.
If I still have my house It is better than none.
If I still have my wits There are mouths I can feed.
If I still have more family What more do I need?
If I still have my health I am mercifully blessed.
If I think I have little Someone has less.
Every day I discover More mercy in me.
Every day I find out Who my true friends will be.
Every day that I stumble Or say “I can’t do it!“
Is a day I discover with God’s grace, I get through it.
So I learn a new lesson If I keep a new score That every day I have less
May be a day I have more.

The auto industry has already received a loan of 25 billion from the govt. that it has until March to pay back. They don’t need more money, they need to get rid of their management! Cut paychecks and do away with the UNIONS. They can file bankruptcy and redistribute their debts like the American People are having to do to survive! THEY NEED TO MANAGE THEIR MONEY BETTER! NOT BE GIVEN MORE MONEY TO BLOW!

i feel sorry for the innocent people working in the Auto indestry, because they are the ones that are going to suffer. Yes so many people will loose there jobs, pentions, heath ins. everything. i belive still, give each head of household 300,000. homes and forclosers will be paid off, people will buy new cars, some will invest. People will also be able to pay off there bills, credits cards. so many of these problems can be solved if this is done. Trust the people of this country. But they just keep on giving and giving to the crooks that started all this. you know what this shows me?? it’s shows me,these crooks and the big corps, mean more to this government, than the hard working people that give them all the money. So here is a question….. Has the United States of America become a Corp. as well?

That’s it, give the president elect millions, and then get it back with the other hand.  Where was all of the crying when these companies were making money hand-over-fist?  Where was MY “Buyout” when I could not afford one of these overpriced gas guzzlers?
Here is my proposal.  Let the Gas companies (Who are making billions in profit), bail them out.  After all, if the auto industry goes under, who will need to buy their gas???

I am so tired of hearing about the bailouts. My question is what are they doing with the billions of dollars of profits they make on the sale of these cars. I bet I know…they are going to the execs and not the workers and certainly not the consumers.

No, I don’t think that we should bail out the automobile industry or the banks.  In doing that we keep giving those that have money and those that need help can’t get it.  There has already been talk that some of the money has been spent for a party.  The people that don’t have a job, senior citizens, are the people that need to be “bailed out.“  I really don’t think there is going to be a “better” but we need to put our priorities in order and help those that have a real need.  Big business use the money to line the pockets of the people already making good money.  People making $15+ per hour need to be cut back and help those that make minimum wage.

Why give MORE money to a company for a “bailout” when they turn around and pay their CEO’s the money? The banks aren’t helping the people with the money THEY got! People are still losing their homes to Foreclosure. They aren’t allowing people to Refinance to a lower rate loan. The money needs to be given to the PEOPLE and let the PEOPLE BAILOUT THEMSELVES. Then the company would receive the bailout money from the payments of the people paying off their mortgages!!

Now that we know there will be a Bailout. Now is the time to be Loyal Americans. Buy the American Product. Time to go back to GM, Ford and Chrysler.
Trade or burn that Nissan, or Toyota.
The country depends on us!

so here is a question, why bailout the people that caused all this? why the american people are the ones suffering, mostly the very poor and middle class. the money should have gone to the people. that is a good idea as well, having the oil companys pay. but then it don’t help the people.

In my opinion, the automobile industry should be bailed out by the giant oil company’s who have been so profitable over the past 3 years. If you think about it, the gas hog SUV’s owners suffered most when gas prices were so unbearable. 85% of those SUV’s were Fords, Chryslers and GM products. This is not about speading the wealth but more about placing the blame where it really needs to be.
