Derick Waller is a reporter for WNCN News. You can catch him in the evenings covering crime, education, politics and just about everything in between.

Derick comes to the Triangle from WVIR NBC29 in Charlottesville, Va. That's where he spent time reporting on a wide range of stories. Most recently he focused on politics, reporting from the station's State Capitol bureau in Richmond.

Needless to say, he's attended his fair share of presidential campaign speeches. In fact, during one such speech, he popped up on "The Daily Show" for a few brief seconds, playing, what else, a TV news reporter.

Derick is a native Richmonder and a proud alum of Virginia Commonwealth University, holding degrees in both Mass Communications and Political Science. He is thrilled to call Raleigh home, especially since it's just a short drive from his family in Virginia.

When he's not out on a story, Derick loves cooking, jogging and traveling. He also loves hearing from viewers.
