Christine Scarpelli Christine Scarpelli

Christine Scarpelli joined WSPA in January 2011 as a digital journalist (one-man-band), but has been bringing you news since July 2010 in the Columbia, SC Bureau as the Media General, Multimedia Intern.

Christine graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia with a Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science. She graduated in May of 2010 after interning at the CBS affiliate WLTX  and WACH Fox in Columbia. In July 2010 she began working in the multimedia journalist position alongside WSPA's top Capitol Reporter Robert Kittle.

While working in the politically charged city of Columbia, Christine covered the 2010 gubernatorial election when South Carolina elected its first female governor Nikki Haley, she covered Sarah Palin's book signing of her latest book "America by Heart" and was able to shake the hand of President Obama on his visit to Columbia during his campaign.

Christine grew up in Lake Placid, NY, the Winter Sports Capital of the World and host of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. In Lake Placid she was busy playing ice hockey, figure skating, and skiing while watching some of the best athletes and role models in the world train and compete.

In her free time she enjoys cooking, hiking and being active outside and cheering on the NY Yankees! She has fallen in love with the South for its warm, beautiful weather and friendly faces.

Christine wants to hear from you whether it's to share a story idea or just to say hello. She is excited to call Spartanburg her new home and to bring you the latest stories from the Upstate.
