Get ready for a hot weekend...and for many of us, a dry one.
High pressure will be the main weather feature through Sunday, allowing heat to build over the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia. It will also be humid, and with all that moisture around an isolated storm or two can not be ruled out. It looks like Sunday would be the best chance for this, and the mountains the preferred location.
A strong cold front approaches western North Carolina late Sunday night, allowing chances of showers and storms to increase overnight...mainly in the mountains. Some severe weather may be ongoing to the north and west; it will be a race to see if the storms weaken before they move into the area.
The front will continue to move through the rest of the area on Monday. We'll be seasonably hot with a chance for a few strong storms during the day, but behind the front we'll get a push of cooler air that should linger through the rest of the week.
Have a great weekend!
