Lisa Lane and Susan Sachs are this month's Caring for the Carolinas award winners. They are the founders of the Project Hope Foundation which includes HOPE Academy, a school which allows autisic children to interact with typical children. Both Susan and Lisa have autistic sons, and they were told there wasn't a school where they could play and learn alongside non-autistic kids. Lisa and Susan decided to create what they couldn't find for their boys. Hope Academy is a K3- 8th grade school which prides itself on tapping into the potential in every child. Parents, students, and school officials were all present at the award ceremony to show their gratitude to Susan and Lisa. Parents say thanks to Lisa and Susan their children now have an opportunity to reach their full potential.
