Richard and Marianne Van Wagoner are November's Caring for the Carolinas Award winners. The couple are involved with several upstate volunteer organizations. Lou Landrum, Executive Director of the Second Presbyterian Soup Kitchen in Spartanburg, says the Van Wagoners are the longest serving volunteers at the soup kitchen. "They come here with such a pride and such energy,"Landrum says. Richard and Marianne are also involved in the local schools and with the service organization Altrusa. They worked to get blankets that were going to be thrown away to needy families in Appalachia. We were honored to present them the Caring for the Carolinas award from November.
