Deputies Arrest Man After "Machete-type" Attack

Henderson County deputies have charged a man accused of cutting another with a machete-type knife Thursday night.  Capt. Frank Stout says David Lee Parris was arrested after the Thursday night incident where Keith Carpenter was injured in East Flat Rock.

The Sheriff's Office says Carpenter and a few other friends including the suspect had been drinking and the suspect who was highly intoxicated and was asked to leave the residence resulting in an altercation.

Stout said Carpenter suffered lacerations to the chest and leg and was airlifted to Mission Hospital. Carpenter remains at Mission Hospital in Asheville in serious condition.

Henderson County Detention Center online records show Parris is charged with assault inflicting serious bodily harm and is being held under $50,000 bond.
