Spartanburg Police say they have arrested the man who, they say, attacked someone with a sledgehammer and a machete this week.

Spartanburg Public Safety has charged Ricky Lee White, 21, with attempted murder in an attack Monday night at 177 West Wood Street.

Investigators say they learned that White bought a bus ticket to Atlanta.  They informed police there, who soon arrested him at the bus station when he got there.

Investigators say they were called to the home Monday for a disturbance call and found the victim with several cuts and bruises to his face and upper torso.

The injured man told officers White struck him several times with a sledgehammer and then cut him with the machete inside the home after an argument.

The victim was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The victim says he got away from White and called police from a neighbor's home. Police say both men lived at the home on West Wood Street, but are not related.

White is being held at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta waiting to be extradited back to Spartanburg County.
