A Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office employee is off the job.

7 On Your Side has learned Sandi Owens, an administrative assistant at the sheriff’s office, has been fired.

She’s accused of misusing taxpayer funds during her employment there.

Owens began working for the Greenwood County in January 2009.

There no word on how much money was allegedly misused.

Thom Berry with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says state investigators have been asked to look into the claims.  Depending on what they find in the preliminary inquiry, it may become a full investigation.

Keep checking back with 7 On Your Side for the latest updates.
