Spartanburg Animal Services responded to a unique emergency this morning.

Around 9 a.m. they received a call about a trapped bird.  Upon arriving at the scene they found the bird, an American Robin, simply floating in the air almost 40 feet in the air.

The bird had gotten itself tangled up in what has been described as blue sewing thread that was stretched between several very high tree branches.  There was a lot of thread draped over cars at the scene as well.

After a tense half hour and some clever handiwork, they managed to lower the bird enough that they could free it.

The bird was taken to a shelter and will soon be moved to rehab.
