STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Karl Cochran scored 16 points and Spencer Collins posted a double-double to lead
Wofford past Georgia Southern 53-47 Thursday night, snapping an eight-game road skid.
Spencer finished with 14 points and 11 boards and Lee Skinner scored 11 for
Wofford in a game that remained close throughout and featured 10 lead changes.
Georgia Southern (11-17, 5-10 Southern Conference), who fell to
Wofford 71-53 Jan. 12, took its largest lead 40-36 on a C.J. Reed 3-pointer with 7:32 to play. But Georgia Southern used a 10-2 run over the next 5 minutes to surge ahead 46-42. Cochran capped the run with back-to-back layups.
The Eagles cut it to one, 48-47, one Cleon Roberts' three-point play with 1:22 showing, but Skinner answered with a three-point play of his own to seal it.
Wofford
(12-17, 6-10) outrebounded Georgia Southern 40-31 and scored 11 second-chance points.
Eric Ferguson paced the Eagles with 11 points.
