Best And Worst Buys In March

For the Hollands, there's nothing like a good bargain to get the blood going.

"Oh, I'm always looking for good deals. I've got a pair of shoes here for $10.48," said Holland.

John Holland, especially delighted to learn he was in the very aisle that could lead him to one of the best buys of March, the frozen food section.

That's because March happens to be frozen food month, and according to price trackers at DealNews, manufacturers are trying to capture new clients.

"We'll keep our eye out for more bargains in the frozen section," said Holland.

It's also a good month to stock up on chocolate, but steer clear of the higher priced Easter goodies.

We like the way Libby Chapman thinks.

She jokingly admits, "chocolate is one of the major food groups."

Dealnews says the best prices are the lingering valentines day candy. Surprisingly, that logic does not apply to lingerie. The company says even after the holiday of love, these items are still costly.

"I was just checking out the sleep-wear section for a gift, and not a whole lot going on over there," said Chapman.

In the electronic section, March has some great deals on big screen TV's that didn't sell during the Super Bowl craze.

And then there's smart phones. Last month, a lot of manufacturers debuted new phones at what's called the Mobile World Congress. That means this month you can snag a deal on last year's model.

Finally just in time for spring break, luggage prices are dropping. Perfect timing for Chapman.

"Our daughter is getting married on a cruise in April so that might be something to look into," said Chapman.

So keep your eye out for the deals, after all.

"You've got to stretch you dollar as much as you can these days," said Holland.
