Spartanburg County Man Charged with Carrying a Gun on School Property

Posted: Updated:
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

Deputies arrested Grady Hudson Tuesday outside Z.L. Madden Learning Center on Centennial Street. He is charged with carrying a weapon on school property. Hudson told deputies he had a gun in his glove box.

Deputies were conducting a search of the learning center's parking lot with a drug dog. That's when the dog alerted deputies to Hudson's vehicle.

School administrators called Hudson to open his vehicle. When the deputy asked if there was any reason the drug dog would pick out his car, Hudson told the officer there was a gun in his glove box. Hudson said he did not have a concealed weapons permit.

The deputy recovered the weapon and arrested Hudson.
