Gist Wins Woodruff Mayor Race

Woodruff, SC -

Voters in the city of Woodruff chose a new Mayor Tuesday.

Fourth Ward Councilman Kenneth Gist won Tuesday's Special Election by receiving 392 votes. Lisa White received 192 votes while incumbent Brad Burnett received 119.

According to Spartanburg County Elections Commission Director Henry Laye, the election was the first in Spartanburg County in which voters had to show at least one of five forms of identification in order to cast their vote. Laye stated that all voters presented their proper photo identification and no problems were encountered.

The election was held after last year's results in November's general election were thrown out due to a problem with the ballots.
