A new poll shows former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford is leading the field of GOP hopefuls vying for the 1st Congressional District nomination.

According to The State, Sanford captured about one-third of the likely GOP voters who responded to a recent survey.

The primary will be held Tuesday across the lowcountry. If none of the 16 candidates gets more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff is set for April 2.
