Cherokee County, S.C. -

A North Carolina man was killed in a four wheeler accident Saturday afternoon.

The Cherokee County Coroner says it happened around 4 pm Saturday on Wolf Den Road, northeast of Gaffney.

The coroner says 38 year old Jonathan Stroupe of Gastonia lost control of the four wheeler, went airborne and flipped backwards.

Stroupe was thrown off and went head first into a tree.

A passenger riding with Stroupe was also injured and airlifted to Spartanburg Regional.

The coroner says Stroupe was not wearing a helmet and died from blunt force head trauma.
