Spartanburg SC -

Repairing roads and potholes in the upstate has become more than a full time job for the Department of Transportation and cities in the upstate.

They're patching potholes around the clock listening to your requests as they come in.

The city of Spartanburg is voting to repair roads too. City leaders say they have money budgeted for repairs and will find the roads that need it most. Fixing culverts and restoring bridges is on the agenda too. Council says they listen to your complaints and cruise the city streets themselves to find the problem areas.

"If they don't get patched they're going to get bigger," said Frank Henderson. He says the holes in the city aren't huge yet. He fears however, if they're not repaired when they're small they'll only get bigger.

"If you're on the other side of a bump you're going to get hit if a cars coming," said Dana Justus. She lives on New Cut road in Spartanburg County and is fearful that a car will dodge a pothole and head straight in the direction of her five year old son.

"They're all over this road and I don't have the money to fix the bumper that's almost falling off my car," she said.

The DOT says they have 7 crews that do nothing but fix potholes across the Upstate, every day. You can report a pothole or a road in need of repair near you by calling your county DOT office.

Spartanburg City Council will vote to award bids to fix roads in the city Monday night. Visit their web site for more information.
