Town Hall Focuses on Medicaid Expansion in SC

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

Health officials across the Upstate are gathered at Wofford College to discuss the pros and cons of expanding Medicaid in South Carolina.

There was a "Lunch and Learn" event scheduled for noon. Policy makers and other health care providers were invited to learn more about Medicaid expansion, what it means for those with chronic health care issues, and how to advocate for it.

The public is also invited to a similar discussion to be held during a Town Hall at Wofford College Monday night. The event will feature a panel of experts including:

  • Rozalynn Goodwin - FACHE, South Carolina Hospital Association
  • Johanna Haynes - CEO, Careteam and Chair, SC HIV/AIDS Care Crisis Task Force
  • Ken Meinke - CFO, Spartanburg Health System
  • Katherine Record - JD, Harvard Law School

Monday night's event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the main building of Leonard Auditorium.

    The Greenville Police Department and Greenville County Coroner's Office are conducting a death investigation after a man's body was found on Richardson Street.
    The Greenville  County Coroner has identified the man who was found dead at the Richardson Street Parking Garage. Jonathan Campbell Hamilton, 34, of Greenville was pronounced dead at 5:32 p.m. Sunday.
