
SMC wins NJCAA quarterfinal contest over E. Georgia, 75-68, plays in semis tonight.The Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers moved within two wins of a national championship and remained unbeaten with a 75-68 win over East Georgia Thursday night in Hutchinson, Kansas in the quarterfinal round of the National Junior College Athletic Association Championship.
Jalen Nesbitt (Chapman HS) led the way with 18 points, Daquan Jeffries (Broome HS) had 16, and T.L. Hanna's Ronell Crockett added 15 as the Pioneers improved to 34-0 on the season.
They play the College of Central Florida in a semi-final game Friday night at 9pm eastern.
SMC had a seven point lead at the half and kept the Bobcats at bay throughout the second half despite East Georgia shooting 50 per cent from the field after the break after making 52 per cent of their field goals in the opening half.
Spartanburg Methodist hit 10 three-pointers in the game and shot 42 per cent from beyond the arc.
