Spartanburg, SC -
Motorists can get $20 in free gas Friday morning at a Spartanburg County grocery store.
Several credit unions from across the upstate are sponsoring a gas giveaway beginning at 8 a.m. at the Ingles at 8004 Warren H. Abernathy Highway in Spartanburg. The first one hundred vehicles will get $20 in free gas, courtesy of the Credit Unions of South Carolina.
The free gas giveaway kicks off the second year of the MADTAG campaign, which highlights good deeds being done in the community.
MADTAG is all about finding ways to Make A Difference in the lives of others and our community" stated Terri Hendrix, Community Relations Manager at SC Telco Federal Credit Union. "But we don't want it to stop there, just like a game of tag, we want people to pass on the good deed to someone else."
"Instead of just asking people what good deeds have been done for them, we wanted to lead by example by surprising drivers with free gas" said Pat West, CEO of Spartanburg Regional FCU. "Hopefully the drivers who are the recipients of our good deed will be energized to find a way to pass it on" West said.
