The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office will receive a new canine deputy thanks to a fund established to honor a fallen state trooper.

The Sheriff's Office announced in a prepared statement that a press conference will be held at 11 a.m. on March 25 at Cleveland Park to announce that the David Bailey Memorial K-9 Fund  will present a trained Belgian Malinois to the Sheriff's Office. Bailey was killed in the line of duty on Interstate 85 in Greenville County on April 5, 2000 . In his honor, friends and family created the fund which raises money to purchase and train K-9 deputies for law enforcement agencies.

The public is invited to attend.
