News Alert: 3 Dead In Shooting at Marine Base Quantico

QUANTICO, Va. -

March 22, 2013 Update 6:39 a.m.

Officials say a Marine killed a male and female colleague at a base in Virginia before committing suicide.

Base spokesman Lt. Agustin Solivan says it began around 11 p.m. with a shooting that killed one at Marine Base Quantico. The suspect then barricaded himself inside the barracks, prompting a standoff with authorities.

Authorities eventually entered the barracks early Friday and found a second victim dead along with the suspect dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No names have been released by Solivan says all three of the dead are Marines.

Solivan says the shooting was an isolated incident and authorities are confident there are no other casualties. The base was put on lock down after the shooting but the lock down has been lifted.

A base spokesman says the suspect in a shooting at Marine Base Quantico in Virginia has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound along with a second victim.

Lt. Agustin Solivan says authorities entered the barracks early Friday where the suspect had barricaded himself after a fatal shooting and found him dead along with another victim.

The standoff began after a shooting on the base around 11 p.m. Thursday.

 No names have been released, but Solivan said authorities believe the suspect was a staff member at the officer candidate school at the base. Solivan says the two others killed were also Marines.

The base had been put on lock down but the lock down has been lifted.

A base spokesman says one person is dead after a shooting at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia and authorities are in a standoff with a suspect who's barricaded himself in barracks.

Lt. Agustin Solivan says the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday and authorities are in a standoff with the suspect that's gone into early Friday.

Solivan says they believe the suspect is a staff member at the officer candidate school at the base.

No information on the victim has been released.
