Snow Forecast For NC Mountains Tuesday, Cold In The Upstate

In the mountains of North Carolina, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for Avery, Yancey, and Mitchell Counties where up to eight inches of snow could fall. SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

In the mountains of North Carolina, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for Avery, Yancey, and Mitchell Counties where up to eight inches of snow could fall.  A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for other areas above 3,500 feet along the Tennessee border until 6 p.m. Tuesday where 6-10 inches of snow is expected.  A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for the lower elevations along the border for 3-6 inches of snow. And that wind advisory the rest of the area is under covers the rest of the mountains, too.

In the Upstate we will see mostly sunny skies with highs near 50. Low temperatures will be in the low 30s.
