Posted: Updated:
ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -

A family in Starr is without a home after flames ripped through this extended mobile home.

Around 5 p.m. on Monday evening the Starr fire department responded to Wilton E. Hall Road for a home fully engulfed with flames.

It took 40 firefighters to put the flames out. The mobile home had been built on several times. Billy Gibson the Anderson County Fire Chief says, "The wind blew the fire from one end of the house to the other."

The fire appears to have started around the wood stove. The couple that lived in the home were gone to the store when the fire began.

The American Red Cross were called out to assist.
