The Anderson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a armed robbery at a convenience store.

The robbery happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the County Corner Exxon at 4538 Highway 81 North.

According to an incident report, a sheriff's deputy responded to the store and spoke with an employee who stated that a man entered the store with a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The report states that the robber stood in front of the counter and then walked around to the side and eventually back behind the county telling the clerk to "hurry, hurry."

The clerk emptied the register and put the money in a plastic bag. The robber then demanded cigarettes and placed about 36 packs into the bag. He then ran out the back of the store and got into a SUV and fled the scene with another man.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing blue shirt, blue jeans, a dark sweatshirt-type jacket with jackets and gloves and a blue stocking cap that showed only his eyes and mouth.

If anyone has any information about the robbery they are asked to contact Anderson Area Crimestoppers at 231-STOP.
