Gallery: Woman Escapes Burning Home In Williamston

WILLIAMSTON, S.C. -

A Williamston woman is safe after a family member helped her escape a burning home early Thursday morning.

Our coverage partners at The Independent-Mail report the fire started around 6:00 a.m. at a home on Willingham Road. 

Firefighters from the Whitefield, Cheddar and West Pelzer fire stations needed about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

The fire chief tells the I-M the woman was asleep in the home when the fire started in the laundry room.

A relative was in a neighboring home, saw the flames and ran to help her escape.

The woman wasn't injured according to The Independent-Mail and the cause is under investigation.
