BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. -

A western North Carolina woman has been arrested for the murder of an unborn child.

Investigators with the Asheville Police Department say Tina Louise Bailey was posing as a midwife during a home birth of a child who was stillborn during labor.

Authorities say she did not have a license to practice midwifery.

Following an investigation, Bailey was charged with murder of an unborn child, obtaining property by false pretense, and obstruction of justice.

Bailey is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility on a $150,000 bond.
