COLUMBIA, S.C. -

South Carolinas unemployment rate dropped slightly in February to 8.6 percent.

The number of people working in South Carolina is at it's highest level since August of 2008.

The state Department of Employment and Workforce reports that's down one-tenth of a point from the 8.7 percent figure in January. The national jobless rate last month was 7.7 percent.

The leisure and hospitality industry plus government were the sectors leading the way in job gains.
