Student volunteers are working to make the upstate a cleaner place to live.

Keep America Beautiful organized a Pelzer Pride Day litter pickup Friday. About 80 students from Palmetto High School were among the group sweeping the area, picking up litter.

There is a similar opportunity Saturday in Pendleton. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Village Green at 8:30am to pickup trash.
