Asheville Resident Killed in 3 Vehicle Collision

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

One person was killed in a 3 vehicle collision Monday morning in Asheville, according to a report by the Asheville Police Department. 

At around 9:30 a.m., the driver of a 1993 Ford Thunderbird traveling East on I-40 failed to stop and hit the rear of a 2010 Land Rover.

The Land Rover had stopped in the right lane of I-40 due to congested traffic on the I-26 exit ramp.

The collision caused the Land Rover to hit the rear of a 2002 Ford Van that was also stopped.

The 2 occupants of the 2010 Land Rover were taken to Mission Hospital and later released.

The driver of the 1993 Ford Thunderbird, 54 year old Donna May of Asheville, was taken to Mission Hospital where she later died from injuries suffered in the collision.

The driver of the 2002 Ford Van did not suffer any visible injuries.
